Bright Promises Foundation has served the children and youth of Metropolitan Chicago for 150 years. Today, our programs benefit more than 10,000 children and their families each year. Nearly all of the young people that we serve live in low-income households and neighborhoods that are plagued with community violence, low-quality schools, and a lack of access to critical services. Two-thirds of the children we serve have experienced multiple childhood traumas. And yet, despite these seemingly insurmountable hardships, the children and families we serve are hopeful and eager to build a better, brighter future for themselves and their communities. And you can help them do it.
To celebrate our 150th anniversary, Bright Promises launched the Elevating Youth Voices initiative to raise up the voices of Chicago youth leaders and youth-led organizations who are taking action to improve their communities. Already this year, the Elevating Youth Voices initiative has engaged hundreds of diverse youth leaders from across Chicagoland who are working to address issues like youth homelessness and gun violence.
This October, with your help Bright Promises will award $50,000 in grants to the youth leaders from Arab American Action Network, Northwest Side Housing Center Belmont Cragin Youth Council, Yollocalli Youth Council of the National Museum of Mexican Art, Storycatchers Theater, and True Star Media to support their community improvement projects.
The Elevating Youth Voices initiative is all about empowerment. Bright Promises wants to empower young people to speak up and take action to address issues in their community, and we want to empower you to make a difference in the lives of these inspiring and deserving young people.
A $10 donation to support the Elevating Youth Voices initiative provides a CTA pass to one youth leader from a low-income household in Belmont Cragin, ensuring they can travel safely as they lead projects to improve their community. A $50 donation provides media equipment for youth leaders who are creating a series of podcasts and videos about how to cope with mental illness in healthy ways. A $375 donation helps provide training to new Chicago Police Department recruits led by formerly court-involved youth in order to break down negative stereotypes and reduce violent interactions between police and youth. Every donation helps show Chicago youth leaders that we believe in them and support them!
Give now and your impact is doubled!
Donate today and your gift will be matched dollar for dollar up to $10,000. Please join us as we elevate the voices of Chicago’s youth leaders.
Give kids a voice. Give kids a chance.
