2012 Update, New Funding Focus and Staff

After a successful four year cycle on Healthy Children, we are transitioning into funding the new 2012 focus on Promoting Resilience in Children Experiencing or exposed to Trauma.  Click here for more information.

We are excited to share more exciting growth within the organization.  The foundation is pleased to welcome Dr. Kathy W. Dames as director of development.  “Kathy brings a diverse background and extensive knowledge of fundraising for non-profits and program development to the foundation.  Her efforts will play an important role in growing our giving program so that we gain the capacity to fund the work of more organizations,” shares Executive Director, Iris Krieg.  “The foundation works to truly impact communities with lasting solutions that can change a child’s life.”  I am delighted to be a part of such an extraordinary mission,” adds Dames. Volunteer Committees and Boards

Young Professionals Board

The Young Professionals Board helps to further the goals of Bright Promises through raising awareness and funds.  They are accomplishing this through various social mediums (website, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and combining forces with other non-profits.  However, their most effective tool - and most fun! - is holding their fundraising events, which are geared towards a younger crowd, filled with a mixed, diverse group, hopefully to grow more and more each time. For all of their information, please visit their website: Young Professional Board Website

New Committees and Boards Forming

Volunteer committees and boards are forming to help drive our fundraising and service efforts. If you are a self-starter, have the time, energy and an applicable skill, we would welcome your participation! Click here to register as a volunteer.

Engaging children is a challenge.  Creating a permanent change in a child’s behavior is an even greater challenge.  How can a program influence children to make life-long changes and choose healthier habits when the children are only there a few hours a day? How can we improve the health of high-risk children when there are so many barriers?

Send a message: a healthy lifestyle is fun and attainable! Kids are kids, no matter where they live and children respond to activities which are enjoyable for them.  Cooking, art, games, fieldtrips, increased physical fitness and hands-on activities are important components across all our programs – and so far, it seems to be working.
